Critical Issues

Critical Issues Conference Projects

New for 2003, Critical Issues is being launched to provide a pivotal forum for the discussion and examination of key contemporary issues. Projects developed within this series are 'critical' in two main senses; first, they are critical in the sense of being significant - the areas being developed are of vital and dominant concern in contemporary living and thinking. Second, they are critical in the sense of being questioning - the projects are designed to allow for a full, frank and thorough discussion of all aspects of the area being examined.

Critical Issues projects are centred on 2 and 3 day conferences held across Europe, Eastern Europe and the Baltic States. The conferences will be inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary with the intention of laying foundations and setting the agenda for the future development of each project. They aim to bring people together in order to begin, sustain and actively encourage open and honest dialogue. Conversations and research will be precisely focused on specific issues and areas of debate. The publication programme associated with each project will be exemplary of a new kind of cutting-edge dialogue.

Project information will start going live over the next two months.

All projects are to be supported by an e-mail discussion group, ISSN e-journal, and dedicated ISBN publication series. Further interactive resources will be developed and made available as each project develops.

As this is a new series, we would be interested in ideas and suggestions for projects which you think merit focused attention. If you would like to be a part of leading or coordinating a Critical Issues project please contact us with your proposal. Contact us now for further details and information.
